Flesh is Monkeywood’s latest play, which premiered at The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, in November 2013. The production has given us the opportunity to work with a new creative team of designers and technicians. Let us introduce them…

Director – Martin Gibbons
Martin’s directing credits for Monkeywood include Once in a House on Fire, Last Orders and Maine Road.He has directed RED, Match of the Day and Animal Companions for the acclaimed JB Shorts, as well as various projects with ALRA North. Martin is also part of the judging panel on the national new talent projectThe Call Back. Martin works as a casting director under Martin Gibbons Casting, and has cast numerous high profile campaigns and projects, including work on the Chris Morris feature film Four Lions.

Set and Costume Designer – Lois Maskell
Lois first worked with Monkeywood on the set and costume for Once in a House on Fire and we were excited to welcome her back. Having trained at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, her recent collaborations as a freelance designer and scenic artist include A Wondrous Place for Northern Spirit, dreamthinkspeak, Liverpool Culture Company, FUSE Theatre, Hope Street Ltd., National Museums Liverpool/Find Your Talent, Action Transport Theatre, Royal Exchange Manchester, The Lowry, Royal Court Liverpool, Octagon Theatre Bolton, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Lakeland Opera and work on the BBC Comedy series ‘The Mighty Boosh’.

Sound Designer – Richard Owen

Sound Design – Benedict Almond
While working full time as a sound technician at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Benedict has also contributed to many other events in and around the Manchester area. This includes operating shows for The 24:7 Festival and The Manchester Comedy Festival. Recent theatre sound design credits include: Spinach (Royal Exchange Studio & King’s Head theatre), The North (Royal Exchange Studio), I’m Spilling My Heart Out Here (NT Connections Project at Royal Exchange & The Lowry) and Dreaming Under A Different Moon (The Edge Theatre, Chorlton).

Stage Management – Izzy Circou
Izzy studied Stage Management at Rose Bruford College, graduating in 2012. She has previously worked at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the HighTide New Writing Festival, the National and International Student Drama Festivals and she has just finished working with Lodestar Theatre Company as Stage Manager on their production of THE MASTER AND MARGARITA at The Unity Theatre, Liverpool, This is Izzy’s first production with Monkeywood.
