Being Mancunian has always been a huge part of Monkeywood’s identity. Now we’re trying to find out what that means…
We’ve commissioned 19 astounding Mancunian writers to write 19 tiny but titanic new plays exploring Manchester and its people. The plays take us from Moss Side to Middleton, Flixton to Failsworth, Droylsden to Didsbury and ask, when we push the clichés aside, what does it really mean to be part of this city?
Specially commissioned for HOME’s PUSH festival, Monkeywood present The Manchester Project, performed as a full set on 13th and 27th January and as pop up performances throughout PUSH.
Visit our exhibition by photographer David Fawcett who has taken portraits of each writer in the location of their play, on display at HOME throughout PUSH.
