OH MANCHESTER, IS WONDERFUL…
Being Mancunian has always been a huge part of Monkeywood’s identity. Now we’re trying to find out what that means…
We’ve commissioned 19 astounding Mancunian writers to write 19 tiny but titanic new plays exploring Manchester and its people. The plays take us from Moss Side to Middleton, Flixton to Failsworth, Droylsden to Didsbury and ask, when we push the clichés aside, what does it really mean to be part of this city?
Specially commissioned for HOME’s PUSH festival, Monkeywood bring The Manchester Project back to HOME’s Theatre 1 ahead of a run at the National Theatre’s River Stage this summer.
The shows at HOME form part of WHERE WE ARE, an exciting double bill with the mighty Take Back Theatre, who are producing Rebekah Harrison’s brand new play This is Where We Are.
Visit our exhibition by photographer David Fawcett who has taken portraits of each writer in the location of their play, on display at HOME.
