Wednesday 10th October 2012 at 1pm

FLESH is our brand new play developed in association with The Royal Exchange Theatre and written by Sarah McDonald Hughes. On Wednesday 10th October at 1pm there will be a script in hand reading of the first draft, with the opportunity to feed back on the script while it is still in development. Tickets can be purchased from the Royal Exchange Box office on 0161 833 9833 or online.

“It was New Years and I was all ready to go and get lashed.  I don’t know why I did the test then but I did.  I couldn’t wait.  And I thought it was negative and I chucked it but then Robbie looked at it again, he had to get it out the bin, and there was two lines.  Two lines means you’re pregnant.”

FLESH is a new play based on the true stories of young parents. In March 2012, with funding from Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts, we began working with young parents groups across Manchester, gathering their stories, opinions and insights to shape a play. Monkeywood will follow this script in hand performance of FLESH with a tour of the full production in 2013, directed by Martin Gibbons. Joining Monkeywood’s actors Francesca Waite and Sarah McDonald Hughes are Marie Critchley, who previously performed in MAINE ROAD and LAST ORDERS, and actor and writer Reuben Johnson, whose Salford-based play WRECKED recently appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Lowry.
