UPRISING – a new writer on attachment scheme from Monkeywood Theatre
Do you have an idea that’s burning a hole in your pocket?
Monkeywood Theatre are offering 3 writer-on-attachment placements. We want to hear from writers new to the company who feel they’d benefit from a 6-month attachment to develop an idea from spark to script.
During the attachment, each writer will receive advice and support from the company to write two drafts of a brand new play. The plays will be produced for an audience in June 2015 at a rehearsed reading at The Lowry, and following this we’ll hope to continue these relationships and offer further support to the writers.
We’re hoping to hear from writers from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience levels. We don’t mind what the plays are about – the opportunity is about writers developing the play that’s important to them. What’s important is that you’ve got a brilliant, urgent idea that you’re burning to write.
Each writer will receive a £1000 seed commission. Following the rehearsed reading in June, all rights will revert to the writers of the plays.
To apply, please send us:
• An up to date CV, not necessarily limited to writing;
• A brief covering letter outlining why this opportunity would be helpful to you now;
• A sample of your writing, up to a maximum of 10 pages;
• 200 words (maximum) outlining the play idea you’d wish to develop during the attachment.
Please send the above to firstname.lastname@example.org with UPRISING and your name in the subject line by Monday 5th January 2015.
